There are some registry entries that the troubleshooter does not fix and those “might” be the cause. Double click the driver download to extract it. My PC no longer recognises the dvd burner, in device manager it appears but has the little exclamation mark over the drive and in properties it says. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? If a language option is given, select your language. The problem is my drive wont detect it.

So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 parts to not function while the others do so properly. I tried all kind of ides floating around the web.
For laptops you can often clean the power and data contacts with a pencil eraser. Forums – a lot of real expert help http: Then work your way through these – remember the drive could be bad, could have a loose cable or slight corrosion on the contacts usually for a laptop and other issues.
First the ide cable, if possible. How exactly did you fix it?? Follow the directions on the installation program screen. Just extract and use device manager to select the destination folder.
I have done the following to try and fix this problem that I have found on other forums. Sorry about my english. The DVDs are in mint condition so it’s not because they are scratched.
