I can’t find any sort of website to get official drivers from, is there any support URLs on the documentation or CD it came with? For a moment, Windows Vista was attempting to search a driver for the Travelstar 8E hard drive, but it couldn’t find anything. I created a 18Meg FAT partition using the freespace, and it worked. If the primary IDE port is enabled most casesthe secondary IDE port is also enabled and cannot be disabled separately.
Assign the drive letter and go back to the Device Manager. I have tried to provide as much information as possible, but is there a way to correct this issue?
I also changed my config. Windows will ask again the next time you plug in your device or log on. Is there any updates to the files listed in the Drivers tab as far as I know?
When I click on the non-functioning device, I get this in the Device Status: Though I have it working under eCS, there are some issues with it. So even though it may not be a lot by today’s desktop standards, 8 Gig is a 4 fold increase over what I trafelstar have.
Microsoft did not provide drivers for the Travelstar 8E when in use under Windows Vista and higher. When using the Event Viewer to troubleshoot errors, Events 6 and 8 are detected referencing to the Virtual Disk Service.
But that would have been devastating if I was actually using the drive. Unfortunately, I can’t find anything in regards to the Travelstar 8E when used on Windows Vista and up.
That took 15 minutes. I find that it’s just way too much work to get the Travelstar 8E device to work correctly under Windows Vista.

I just don’t know what to tell you. The Travelstar 8E is listed as drive E. Click on the Device manager tab. That makes it impossible to boot from this drive. Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
Right click computer under the start tab and select manage 2. I already had socket services working on this laptop under eCS 1.
